15,498. Young, D., [Bundy Manufacturing Co.]. June 29. Milling.-A pattern is reproduced by the profiling-machine shown in vertical section in Fig. 2. The pattern 30 is carried by a fixed holder 29, and above it is a tracer 43 mounted within a guide 46, having a flat enlarged portion 47 formed with a large aperture 48. A centrally-perforated block 49 is mounted within the aperture 48, and is supported by set-screws 50, and a similar block 51 is similarly mounted within the aperture in the block 49. Within the block 51 a link d is affixed by means of a bevelled nut 51<1> and a lock-nut 52. The link d is pivoted to a cross-slide 10, which is mounted upon a main slide 6 fitted to slide upon guide-ways formed upon part of the machine framing 4. A plate 54 is loosely mounted upon the framing by means of a bolt 56, and the guide 46 is connected to the plate 54 by set-screws. Hence, when the guide is moved in any direction, a corresponding motion is given to the slide 10. The cutting-tool 19 is supported by a holder 18, which is mounted upon a shaft a carried by a piece 12 secured to the slide 10, and rotated by means of a pulley b. The work, such as a key 25, is held by a work-holder c carried by a table 20 mounted upon the standard 3, and normally held up by a spring 21 to an extent limited by an adjustable screw 23. The table can also be adjusted upon a main slide 20<1> by means of a screw 21<1>. The table 20 can be lowered by means of a handle 39, pinion 37, and rack 36 on the main slide 20<1>. A wire 41 connects the tracer 43 to a drum 40 mountel on the same shaft as the pinion 37.
