Abstract
10,421. Powell, C. April 27. Motor road vehicles.-Relates to driving-gear for cycles and motor cars. On the hub or axle B of the driving-wheel is secured a small pinion D which gears with a large inwardly-toothed wheel E, the spindle of which is journalled in a split frame A secured to the frame of the vehicle. The motion may be transferred from the crank shaft by chain, belt, band, rope, or eccentric-rod connections. A modification is described in which the internallytoothed wheel is secured directly to the crank shaft. The crank shaft is journalled in bearings formed in lugs upon the frame and passed through flanged cones on the axles which form bearings for the wheel hub.
