4207. Colquhoun, D., and Colquhoun, F. Feb. 16. Disinfecting closets, urinals, &c. -A vessel A containing disinfectant is secured around the flushing-pipe d. From the middle compartment of this chamber an elbow-pipe g passes and projects into the pipe d. An internal pipe i passes up to the level of the liquid in A, whilst the pipe g is continued to a higher level. An air pipe m is fitted to the top of the vessel A. When a flush is started in the pipe d, the first effect is to drive out disinfected air through the pipes g and m ; then a part of the flush is forced into A, and a corresponding amount of the disinfectant forced out through the pipe i. For traps &c., the disinfectant is placed in a vessel which is fixed partly below the water level.
