Abstract
13,917. Heims, D. W. March 30. Closets, urinals, &c., disinfecting; sinks, disinfecting. -Relates to apparatus for supplying disinfectant to the water in a flush pipe for closets, urinals, drains, sinks, &c., by the action of the flush which draws air through a chamber containing disinfectant to carry the vapour into the flush pipe. The container A for the disinfectant &c. is connected to the flush pipe by a pipe H which terminates in an enlargement E having lateral apertures. A rod I is employed to secure the cover K and to support a cylinder of porous fabric N, such as cotton or wick, which dips into the disinfectant introduced through a filler F. When the flush occurs, air is drawn in through the valve C, takes up vapour from the fabric N, and passes by the pipe H to the flush pipe. According to the Provisional Specification, the container is divided by a perforated shelf, and the discharge takes place by a siphon opening near the bottom, solid or liquid disinfectant being employed.
