Abstract

16,150. Merrill, J. July 22. Water-waste preventers, siphon-discharge. Automatic siphons for flushing and discharging liquids, especially discharging sewage from bacteria beds, are constructed as shown, the device being applicable as an ordinary flushing-siphon, by placing both siphons in the same chamber. The tank A having filled, the supply is turned off. When the level in the bed B reaches the top of the cistern E, liquid flows into the cistern and encloses air in the chamber F, the air being forced along the pipe P to the trap T. At a certain point, the auxiliary siphon G is started by automatic apparatus D of any suitable form, and the bed B is emptied. The release of the air in the chamber F then starts the siphon C<1>.
