Abstract

188,209. Brewer, G., (Krupp Akt.-Ges., F.). Nov. 15, 1921. Axial rolling.-Axle journals and the like are smoothed between three pressure-rollers G. J, K mounted in carriages D, E which are equally and oppositely adjusted across a slide B by means of a right and left hand screw F, the latter being permitted a limited endways movement in the slide. The axle is mounted between centres and driven by a headstock as in an ordinary lathe, a driven feed screw C being fitted for the longitudinal traverse of the roller slide. The rollers J, K are mounted in a member H pivoted in the carriage E so as to accommodate slight irregularities in centring, &c.
