Milling.-In a milling-machine of the kind in which the movements of the tool a over the work are controlled by means of rollers b mounted on the tool-spindle and engaging templets c on the work axis, the rollers are of conical form so that they may be adjusted to compensate for the reduction in diameter of the tool due to wear. The machine is described with reference to grinding the grinding-roller a being free to move about two perpendicular axes. Each roller b rotates on ball bearings and is held in position by an arm e secured to a sliding sleeve f which is threaded internally and is actuated to adjust the roller by means of a screwed spindle g. One end of the rollers is of cylindrical form and has a diameter equal to the initial diameter of the tool.
