Copying.-In a process for the manufacture of pipe shelves, keystones, and annular and shaped stones or bricks for refractory or other purposes, the bricks, &c. are first moulded and burnt in the usual way and then finished to exact dimensions in a grinding or milling machine. The traversing table a of the grinding machine carries brackets b, c, which support spindles k, g respectively on which templets i are mounted. The spindles are also provided with clamping jaws m between which the work is mounted, the templets and clamping jaws being- kept in proper alignment by bolts o. The spindle of the grinding-roller n is freely mounted and carries rollers q bearing on the templets. The spindle q may be rotated by hand operated worm gearing e or by power to bring different parts of the work into engagement with the grinding- roller, the rollers q moving over the templets to cause the work to be shaped to the desired profile.
