Roller bearings.- In a roller bearing having single-point rolling contact between a thrust flange 3 and the ends of conical rollers C, the thrust surface 4 is arranged approximately at right-angles to the inner cone 1. The ends 5 of the rollers, which are normal to the axes of the rollers, are rounded at 5<a>, and point contact occurs at 7. If, in operation, a roller deviates slightly from its true line contact with the cone, a new point of contact with the surface 4 is established such that a corrective moment is applied to restore the roller to its proper position. An inner flange 10, which may be in the form of a split ring, is provided to maintain the bearing in assembled relation. The rollers are spaced by a slotted flanged shell D, but the slots are large enough to allow the self-righting action of the rollers. The thrust flange may be formed on the outer instead cf on the inner cone. The ends of the rollers are recessed at 8 to receive lubricant, and annular recesses 9, 10<a> are formed at the roots of the flanges.
