Abstract

185,881. Homer, A. J. June 29, 1921. Fuel containers.-Relates to a method of securing to the underside of motor-cycle petrol tanks, screw-threaded sockets which are engaged by holding-down bolts co-operating with supporting- brackets on the frame. The socket consists of a shank a<2> with a blind screw-threaded hole therein, and a flange integral with the shank and having a number of rivet-like projections a<3>. The projections a<3> pass through the wall of the tank and through an internal strengthening-strip d, and are riveted over while the flange is soldered to the tank. An external strengthening-strip e may be soldered on, this strip being held between the flanges and the tank or provided with circular openings to accommodate ths flanges.
