Lids; tampering with, preventing and detecting.-A box or packing-case is provided with internal locking-means comprising a bolt C, Fig. 4, mounted on a central partition B of the box and an eye E on the lid. Access is had to the bolt through a hole T, which is normally covered by a libel held in place on two strips W of wood on the underside of the lid bv fasteners of bent metal passing through the label and the strips W and engaging by their hooked ends G with spring strips H. To open the box, the label is torn away and the spring strip disengaged from the hook so that, when the bolt is drawn, the lid may be raised. The central partition may be dispensed with and the bolt arranged on a side, in which case the barbed fastener and the hole would be in the side; or the bolt might be on the lid and engage a hasp on a side, in which case the hole and fastener would be in the lid. According to the Provisional Specification, the strips W of wood may be omitted; or, in addition to these strips, a thin piece of wood may be used under the label. Also, a bar bent and hooked at its ends may replace the two fasteners.
