Abstract

185,542. Holzwarth, H. June 20, 1921. Generating by indirect contact of heated gases. - -In an installation comprising an internalcombustion engine or turbine c, the exhaust gases from which are used to generate' steam in a generator a for driving a turbine supplying the primary motor with scavenging air, combustion air and gas, additional heat is supplied to the generator a in quantities varying automatically with the supply of exhaust gases. For this purpose auxiliary gas or oil burners b are provided and so connected with the exhaust pipe of the motor c that the current of exhaust gases induces the correct flow of fuel gases from the auxiliary burners. The governor of the motor c regulates the quantity of fuel supplied to the burners. In a modification, combustion air is supplied to the burners by the pump that delivers scavenging air to the motor c.
