Abstract

Ground levers; spring operation.- A controlling-device for railway points comprising a spring, a cam-member having two opposed surfaces, and a contact member, is provided with a movable cam member 19 held fast until the contact roller 9 has passed the deadcentre when it is released so as to direct the roller into the other position. The roller 9 is carried by one arm 8 of a lever 3, which is connected to the point rod 7 and has two arms 4, 5 for engagement with a weighted hand-lever 2, which is normally vertical and is stationary when the points are trailed through. The roller 9 engages a cam 17 upon a member 10 to which is secured a rod 11 carrying a spring 15 within an adjustable casing 12. Pivoted to the cam 17 at 18 is a cam plate 19 which is held in either position by catches 21 spring-pressed at 23 and retained by limit stops 24. Each catch has a tail 22 engaged by the roller 9 to free the plate 19 when the roller has passed the deadcentre. For one-way operation, the plate 19 may be locked by pins passing through holes 26. The member 10 is guided by rollers 10<b> engaging surfaces 10<a> in the casing 1. Pins or a plate 25 form a stop for the plate 19. The member 10 may consist of upper and lower plates, as shown, or it may be solid. In a modification, the member 10 is fixed while the arm 8 is telescopic and carries a spring to keep the roller 9 in contact with the plate 19. Further, the lever 3 may have two sets of arms 4, 5 so that it may be actuated by a band-lever placed on either side of the casing.
