Directing and adjustably supporting endlesschain eleveators; driving-gear.-In elevators comprising an upper part mounted vertically to swivel about its longitudinal axis and a lower part hinged thereto so as to be movable in a vertical plane, the upper part is carried by arms 5. 6 arranged parallel-ruler fashion and the lower part comprises parallel members 25, 26 connected by links 30, 31. The arms 5, 6 are pivoted to a wheeled carriage 7 movable on a structure 9, which may be stationary or movable along a track. The arm 6 is raised by a chain 51 connected to a winch 52. The top 12 of the upper part of the elevator is swivelled in a cross-head 13, the ends of which are pivoted to the arm 5. Rollers 18, Fig. 2, carried by an external annular flange 19 on the upper part run on a track 17 formed on a ring 15, which is mounted on trunnions 16 in the side members of the arm 6. The elevator is rotated by an electric motor which drives through worm gearing a pinion meshing with the rack 24 on the ring 15. The members 25, 26 are pivoted to the upper part at 27, 28 and are raised and lowered by an electric motor 32 which drives through bevel and worm gearing pinions 35 meshing with toothed sectors 36 attached to the member 26. The endless chain of buckets 37 is driven by an electric-motor 43 mounted on the member 25, and may be driven through any type of hydraulic transmission gear fitted with an automatic governor to reduce the speed and increase the torque if the load becomes excessive. The buckets discharge on to a belt conveyer 55, which delivers either to a conveyer 56 or to a hopper 53 and shoots 54.
