Abstract

1277406 Container tipping apparatus RUSSELL CONSTRUCTIONS Ltd 26 Sept 1969 [9 Oct 1968] 47902/68 Heading B8H Lifting and tipping apparatus comprises chains 34, 35 passing round sprockets 29-32 to which a container cradle 37 is attached for a container to be raised and tipped when a shaft 26 of the sprockets 29, 30 is driven by motor 21 through a chain drive 27. A shaft 33 of the sprockets 31, 32 is vertically adjustable by adjusters 55 to tension the chains which are guided by guides 36 which are adjustable by wedges 36a with bolts 56. The cradle is attached to the chains by fixed arms 53 having bearings 39, 40 pivotally connected to a link of the respective chain and by articulated struts 41 pivoted to another link of the chains and to the cradle 37. The arrangement is such that in the lowered position the struts are inclined downwards and as the container moves around the upper sprockets the linear distance between the first and second link connections decreases, causing the struts to rotate to assist the tipping. Micro switches 43, 44 co-operate with strikers on the chains to control their movement. A central single chain may replace the pair of chains shown and the chains may be inclined from the vertical.
