Abstract

183,039. Briggs, W. B., and Buxton, S. H. July 19, 1921. Straight-tube apparatus.-A copper for boiling wort is heated by steam passing through headers 1 into which fit the lower ends of vertical closedended tubes 8 through sockets 7 each of which is provided with a short diaphragm 12. Each header tube may be bent at one end and flanged so as when assembled to form a regular polygon for example a hexagon as shown. The upper ends of the tubes are stayed by bars 15 and the headers may be supported by feet 13 fitted to the flanges 3.
