Liquid fuel, supplying; vaporizers, external.- In a fuel-feed system in which fuel is fed by the pressure of the exhaust gases from a low-level tank to an auxiliary vessel which supplies the carburettor, the valve controlling the passage of the exhaust gases is arranged on the auxiliary vessel and the exhaust gases are employed for heating the auxiliary vessel before passing to the main tank. As shown, the auxiliary vessel a is provided with an inlet pipe f for the hot exhaust gases, which pass through a perforated filtering- pipe h and a reducing-valve o to a chamber o communicating with an outlet pipe y.leading to the main tank. A relief valve z is provided. The fuel enters the vessel a through a passage c provided with a pipe v dipping below the level of the liquid, and passes through strainers p to an outlet d connected to the carburettor. The vessel a is provided with an air vent n normally closed by a float-valve t. On stopping the engine, the gases in the main tank contract, fuel is sucked back through the pipe v, and the valve t opens, thus ensuring a gravity flow to the carburettor of sufficient fuel upon restarting the engine.
