Abstract
An aqueous suspension of metallic sulphides, containing free sulphur and gangue in addition, may be concentrated by heating the suspension under pressure to a temperature above the melting point of sulphur, but not exceeding 165 DEG C., the suspension being agitated by any suitable means. Under these conditions the sulphur melts and coalesces with the sulphides, the mixture then being separable by gravity from the gangue, which remains suspended in the aqueous liquid. Sulphur may be added to the emulsion if the amount originally present is sufficient.
