Actuated or applied by running axle; periodic.-A brake mechanism for power presses, shearing-machines, punching- machines, angle-benders, metal-working machinery, &c. comprises a brake drum a, and a cam d fitted so as to rotate with it and operate, by means of the roller n, lever m, and rod i, a brake band e, one end of which is anchored to the frame of the machine at o. In a modification, Fig. 4, the brake band is pivoted coaxially with the pivot o of the lever m<1>, which releases the brake against the action ofthe spring l.
