Abstract

Cam mechanism; link-work.-Cylinders 2 are arranged parallel to a central shaft 3 carrying a swash-plate with which engage ball-ended piston rods 6. The pistons may be returned by springs 10 and the operative face x of the swash-plate may be arranged at right-angles to the axis of the shaft 3. Alternatively, the springs may be dispensed with, the pinions being provided with shoes 9, Fig. 4, held in position by rings 12 secured to the swash-plate. To prevent the pistons from rotating, each piston rod is formed with a flat surface 6<a> which slides in contact with a similar surface on a member 14<b> fitted to a stuffing-box gland.
