Coal-cutting machines.-In a machine wherein a cutter bar B or cutter chain is slued by gearing operated through a transverse shaft E, this shaft is driven by means of an anchor chain G connected to the haulage rope D and passing over a sprocket wheel F detachably fixed to either end of the shaft.
