Abstract

179,079. Ludlow, J. H. May 11, 1921. Golf practising appliances; clubs.-The velocity or force of impact of a golf club or the like is measured by a spring-controlled weight provided with an indicator moving over a scale and retained at its maximum reading. The device illustrated' comprises a slotted tube 2 containing a weight 1 connected to a spring 3 and carrying a pin with an index 6 movable over a scale inscribed on a slotted sleeve 2<x>. The weight is retained by engagement of the pin with ratchet teeth cut on the edge of the slot in the sleeve. The device may be secured to and parallel with the golf club shank or it may be arranged at right angles thereto in the plane of the swing.
