Abstract

192,893. Littleton, H. S. Jan. 16, 1922. Levels and clinometers. - In a levelling and gradientmeasuring device of the kind in which a levelling bar is provided with an upright at each end, the uprights are adapted to be folded upon the bar by hinge movements. The levelling-bar A carrying a spirit or other level B may be formed in two parts a, a' the ends of which carry tubular pieces a<3>, a<4> respectively through which the other part slides, graduations a<2> indicating the position of adjustment. One upright D is pivoted at C to one end of the bar A and is provided with a pin g for engagement by a strut G pivoted to the bar to hold the bar at right angles to the upright when the instrument is in use. The other upright F, which is graduated, is slidable through a tubular member E pivoted to the other end of the bar A.
