Abstract

178,984. Bingley, F. Feb. 11, 1921. Shelves and shelf fittings.-An expanding bookcase with telescopic shelves is made of sheet metal or light castings and comprises channelled uprights E, F with spaced holes H or horizontal slots into which studs or hooks on the end sections A, C of the shelves are pressed. The shelf sections have box-shaped front and rear edges which telescope together, the sections A, C sliding within the middle sections B. The space between the shelves may be subdivided by uprights J provided with bent-over spring clip extensions K and with partition members extending from front to rear. The hook-case may stand alone or may be fixed in a recess by screws, rails, &c. passing through holes I. The shelf-supporting uprights may be of box-section and the outer faces may slope outwards so that the bases are of sufficient area to stand firmly on the ground.
