Abstract

180,098. Hill, H., and Dutton, F. March 3, 1921. Plate racks.-A telescopic rack or shelf is adapted to be fixed in any recess in a room to act as a shelf. When fixed over a fireplace it may also be employed as a plate rack or airing shelf. The telescopic rack or shelf comprises a pair of end plates 1 slotted to receive the grooved ends of telescopic tubes 11 extending between them. Springs 17 wihin the tubes force their ends apart. The slots 3 in the plates have enlarged openings 5 to admit the grooved ends of the tubes which are spaced in recesses A provided in the lower edge of the slot 3. The slotted plates are secured to the wall by spikes 6 provided with grooved heads 8 engaging in the slot 3.
