Abstract
217,105. Ruf, A. Sept. 7, 1923. Cabinets; racks. - A cabinet &c. for vertical filing has one or more partitions 5 which can be rocked to facilitate access to the papers, the partitions having depending lugs 4 engaging slots 3 in a base plate 2. When the base plate is of wood, the sides of the slots are bevelled. The slots may be centrally placed. Various modifications are described. The lugs may engage corrugated metal members 9, Fig. 6, secured to the sides or bottom of the cabinet, or a corrugated spring wire housed in a slot. Laterally projecting pins may replace the lugs, adapted to engage a rack or toothed bar, being held in engagement by a spring wire located above the pins and rack. In other forms the pins engage between two corrugated wires, or between two bars which may be roughened the upper bar being urged towards the lower by springs. The pins may project inwardly from depending lugs. In another form, pairs of lugs on the partition embrace a guide bar, and in a further modification pins on the partition rest on a bar raised by springs to engage the pins with a rack formed in a slot in the side of the cabinet.
