Abstract

177,449. Goble, B. G. July 7, 1921. Air tubes and chambers.-An inner tube 5 of the compression type is formed with an annular depression 16 in the tread portion. In the deflated condition, the inner periphery 7 of the tube 5 is of greater circumferential length than the rim 8 so as to be clear of the tyre beads as shown. The curvature of the tube sides being less than the curvature of the casing 6, spaces 13 are left as shown, the tube 5 touching the inner surface of the casing 6 at four places A, B, C, D. The casing 6 has transverse grooves 17 to allow escape of air at the rim 8.
