Abstract

254,119. McMullan, R. July 28, 1925. Tyres with rims enclosing air tubes or chambers.-A wheel tyre comprises a pneumatic tube 15, seated in a metal retaining shell 10, and a circumferentially-extending rubber piece 13 adapted to engage under shoulders 11, 12 on the shell 10, as shown. The shoulders 11, 12 are preferably tapered and the tube 15 completely ú lls the space between the shell 10 and the rubber piece 13. A removable tread 14, disposed outside the flanges, covers the rubber piece 13, ,and is sprung into grooves on the upper face of the shoulders 11, 12.
