Abstract

177,344. Cooper, J. E. Feb. 10, 1921. Hollow handles; fixing by screwed tangs.-The hcllow handle of a knife, fork, &c. is fixed between the bolster and an end piece by a screw passing through the end piece and engaging the screwed tang. As shown in Fig. 1, the end of the tubular handle j is fixed in recess in the bolster c by a screw m passing through a conical hole in an end piece k having a shoulder engaging in the outer end of the handle. The screw m engages an internally-screwed tubular extension e fixed to the blade tang b by rivets &c. h. In place of the extension e the tang may be solid and threaded axially to receive the screw m. Fig. 5 shows another modification in which the. bolster c is solid with the blade and tang, and the tang b is screwed externally for the nut piece q which passes through the end piece k.
