175,911. Zollois, J. G. March 23, 1921. Handles.-A valve handle is fitted over a square or like stem and is secured by a bolt or nut which fits into a central recess. The member 16 is moulded from hard rubber, bakelite, or similar composition, with metal sleeves 18, 20 embedded in the walls of the central opening. The sleeve 20 is of square or other angular cross-section, while the sleeve 18 is circular and is provided with a recess 24. The stem 11 may be screw threaded externally as shown in Fig. 1, or internally as shown in Fig. 10, and the handle is secured to it by a nut 26 or bolt 27. A sheetmetal cap 29, Fig. 6, is slotted to give elasticity, and is provided with a flange 31 which just fits the nut or bolt. The cap is sprung into position and prevents loss of the bolt or nut, due to the larger diameter of the collar 28. The valve handle may be manufactured and fitted to the stem as a complete unit, but the nut or bolt 26 or 27 may be removed by detaching the cap 29.
