Abstract

Feed-water, supplying and controlling.- In a boiler feed-water regulator, the feedvalve 77 is operated by a lever system comprising a long arm 74 which carries a float 73 situated in a casing 70 connected to the boiler and is mounted on an oscillatory spindle 75 carried by the casing and situated partly inside and partly outside it, and a short arm 76 mounted on the spindle externally of the casing and coupled to a counterbalance arm 79 mounted on a second oscillatory spindle 85 carried by the feed-valve casing 78, the spindle 85 being fitted with a shorter arm 86 connected to the valve rod, and the feed-valve casing being situated in a position remote from the casing 70. The arm 74 is very long compared with the arm 76, or alternatively the arm 79 is very long compared with the arm 86, so that a very material movement of the float is necessary to cause a slight movement of the valve, which results in a water-level in the boiler varying inversely as the load thereon, as described in Specification 17777/14. The valve 77 mav be constructed with non-parallel ports 87 so as to vary the amount of variation in the water-level.
