Abstract

383,688. Fuel and air regulators for steam boilers. DOBLE, A., 190, Sea Cliff Avenue, San Francisco, U.S.A. Sept. 21, 1931, No. 26366. [Class 51 (i).] The movements of a part of a boiler tube 6 due to expansion and contraction are transmitted to fuel control devices by an element secured to the tube and made of a metal having the same coefficient of expansion as that of the tube. The tubular element 32 is welded to the boiler tube and may be enclosed by a loop in the tube. A quartz rod 36 in the element engages a rocker arm 37 which, upon expansion of the boiler tube, first engages with the lever of the feed valve 9 to allow water to enter the boiler. Further movement of the quartz rod causes the arm 37 to engage a lever 26, thus opening contacts 23 in the supply lines of an electric motor 21 driving the fan supplying air and liquid fuel to the burner.
