Dec. 22, 1920, [Convention date]. 1,<V>eldi,ng; forging-machines.-Forgings or the like to be heated are held in clamps a, band a', b', adapted when open to be moved along or about coaxial conductors c, d, to accommodate different shapes of forging and when tight to be held rigid and in good electrical contact with the conductors. Current is supplied to the conductors from a transformer .'7. As shown in Fig. 2, the rod n bearing the conductor c slides in a tube d<1> within the conductor d and is provided with a hand-wheel p and spring p<l> and means such as a cam s for moving the conductor against the pressure of the spring. The hand-wheel p may be used to upset the work or to weld two pieces together. The tubes c, d are water cooled.
