Abstract

172,905. Sherman, A. G. April 20, 1921. Stoppers, plug; stoppers, materials for; stoppers closuring at mouth of vessel. - A stopper for bottles containing hypodermic solutions is formed of elastic material with a central opening extending for the major portion of its length and has integral therewith a portion of relatively soft material normally closing the opening and compressed by confinement in the bottle neck. An elastic stopper 3, Fig. 3, of frusto-conical shape has a similarlyshaped opening 5 closed by a portion 4 of the stopper made of softer material. On insertion into the bottle neck 2 the whole of the stopper is compressed to a cylindrical shape. An antiseptic pad 6 covers the top of the stopper. The closure is completed by a metal cap 7, Fig. 1, comprising downwardly extending tongues through the looped ends of which passes a ring 8 tightened around the bottle neck by a hooked member 9.
