Abstract

Chucks.-In a pressure-operated chuck, the jaws 22 are connected by radial screws 42 with base members 28 formed with slots 33, each of which is engaged by an enlargement on a dog 34 pivoted to the body of the chuck. The free ends of the dogs 34 are engaged by wedge faces 40 on pins 38 projecting from the face of the pressureoperated piston 43, which is provided with return springs 50. The screws 42 are turned by hand to give a preliminary adjustment, and the grip is then obtained by turning on the pressure fluid.
