Abstract

167,527. Lavoie, A. J., and Lyall & Sons Construction Co., Ltd., P. April 8, 1920. Chucks.-In a pneumatically-operated chuck the jaws 8 are connected by radial screws 44 with base members 14 formed with inclined slots 18 engaged by teeth 20 on dogs 19 projecting from the face of the pneumatically-operated piston 23. The screws 44 are turned by hand to give a preliminary adjustment, and the grip is then obtained by turning on the air. The piston is returned by springs 25 and carries a boss 35 working inside a cup 32, carried by the face-plate 26, to which cup air is admitted by the pipe 34.
