Abstract

554,066. Tool holders. JEFFREY, R. A., and KENT, W. H. June 4, 1942, No. 7608. [Class 83 (iii)] A turret tool holder for a lathe comprises a shank 11 carrying a plate 10 formed with a boss 12 having ratchet teeth 13 coacting with a pawl 21 carried by a tool holding block 16 which may rotate about a central stud 15. The block has an annular flange 19 surrounding the boss 12 and a ring 29 screws over the plate 10 and abuts against the block 16 to clamp the same and to exclude dirt. The tools are secured in grooves in the tool block by screws 26 and the ratchet is arranged to oppose the thrust of the tool.
