Abstract

170,956. Ferrand, F., and Riley, F. Aug. 4, 1920. Drying cops and the like.-Yarn in cop, cheese, and other compact form is dried by being placed in a perforated annular chamber 32 mounted in a closed vessel 7 surrounded by a jacket 9. A pipe 18 is connected to the chamber 32 and to the suction of a turbine pump driven by a steam turbine. The exhaust steam from the turbine is passed through a coil 28 arranged in the annular space 10 between the jacket 9 and the vessel 7. Air is drawn through an inlet 31 into the space 10 and thence through a valve 29 and the vessel 7 to the pipe 18.
