Abstract
176,956. Tompkins, A. E. Jan. 14, 1921. Density separators. -A steam-drier has inner and outer members 1, 2 with an annular chamber 3 between, steam being admitted through the pipe 6 to the annular chamber and drawn off from the inner member 1 through the pipe 5. Vanes 10 are attached to the diaphragm at the end of the inner part 1 to start the entering steam rotating, and holes 9 permit the passage of dry steam from the chamber 3 to the pipe 5. Wet steam is discharged through the tangential outlet 4. In a modification, the outer member 2 forms a junction-piece between steam-pipes not in a straight line and the vanes are arranged at right-angles to the length of the inner member. In another modification, the inner member 1 is screwed into a flanged tube 15, Fig. 5, inserted in the tube 2 flanged at each end. The steam-pipes are secured to the flanges.
