Abstract

Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs; hubs.-Detachable wheels for colliery trams and the like are secured on an inner hub B, which runs on a bearing bush A fixed to the axle and recessed centrally so as to provide a reservoir for lubricant. Bearing-bushes C may be fixed in the hub B, or the arrangement may be modified for ball bearings. The lubricant is admitted to the reservoir through a passage L in the axle M. The cap E by which the detachable wheel is secured is provided with a central opening G to give access to the passage L. The opening is normally closed by a spring-pressed ball which is moved aside by the lubricating appliance, such as the nozzle of a pump. The cap is locked by a spring-pressed pin J.
