Abstract
619,927. Bearing. McLINTOCK, J. Dec. 23, 1946, No. 37665. [Classes 12 (i) and 12 (iii)] A wheel or pulley bearing comprises a bush having upper and lower axial passages communicating with the bearing surfaces, a lubricant box at one end and means carried by the wheel or pulley for circulating lubricant from the box via the lower axial passage or passages to the bearing surfaces and thence via the upper axial passage or passages back to,the box. A fixed axle b has a reduced end c fitted with a transversely divided bush d having upper and lower axial passages h, i communicating with its outer bearing surface g which is concave in longitudinal cross section and cooperates with a convex bearing surface f of a wheel hub e. The hub e extends at one end to form a lubricant box m sealed by a screwthreaded axle-cap n and at the other end to form a space o closed by a sealing ring p. The cap n carries abutments q which, on rotation of the wheel, pass over the end of the passage i and force lubricant therein, the lubricant box m being only partly filled.
