170,373. Cowey, L. E. July 16,1920. Springs, arrangement of and mounting undercarriages on; axle clips.-Spring suspensions comprising long laminated or non-laminated springs B secured at their ends to the front and rear axles respectively, are secured at one or more intermediate points to the chassis by means of a connection comprising rubber or like resilient material so as to permit limited relative movement between the springs and - chassis. In the arrangement shown, the springs B are secured to the chassis at two points by means of 'brackets G, rubber blocks h' being placed above and below the springs and secured to the brackets by plates h and bolts h<2>. The connection of the springs to the front axle comprises a U bolt E and a pair of bolts F, while the rear axle connection comprises a ball-and-socket joint I, i, or other flexible connection, such as a shackle or a journal bearing. In the case of laminated springs one or each of the axle connections is flexible, but in the case of non-laminated springs both connections may be rigid. One of the two connections of the springs to the chassis may comprise a joint of the kind described in Specification 166,205. The springs B may be arranged in pairs side by side.
