Abstract

170,290. Priban, V., and Houdek, O. Oct. 12, 1920, [Convention date]. Cutting slices in succession.-A fruit and vegetable slicing appliance comprises side members 3, 4 between which are secured a stationary member 1 and a member 9, pivotally mounted at its outer end between the side members 3, 4 and having a slicing knife 12 secured to its inner end by screws 13, 14, 15. The member 9 is retained in position by a, bolt 16 and thumbscrew 17, the bolt 16 being housed, in the operative position, in a transverse groove 20 in the member 9. The groove 20 is sufficiently deep to allow the knife 12 to come below the edge of the member 1. The vegetables rest on the member 1 and are pressed against the knife 12, the slices passing between the knife 12 and the member 1, The slice thickness is varied by angularly adjusting the member 9. A handle 21, secured to the side members, is provided. In modifications, the side members are made. from metal strips or the side members and the handle are formed integrally. For cutting strips, a knife having cutting ribs 25 is provided.
