Plant.-Sewage is supplied alternately to two settling-tanks or sets of tanks, the one tank or set standing full of liquid so as to give a quiescent settling-period while the continuous supply is passing to the other tank or set. The alternate supply is controlled by means of air-locked siphons. The method is particularly applicable with sewage passing to settling-tanks from tanks in which it has been treated with activated sludge.
