Abstract

170,007. Stassano, H. Oct. 9, 1920, [Convention date]. Bottles, washing &c.-Apparatus for aseptically delivering and distributing sterile liquids into receivers comprises devices for sterilizing, filling, and closing the vessels, the devices being located around heated guides so arranged that the mouth of each vessel remains applied against one of these guides while it moves from one device to the next. As shown, the bottles 15, Figs. 1, 2, and 3, are placed mouth downwards in carriers each consisting of a sleeve 8 mounted on a shaft 4 and having arms 9, 10 carrying a bar 11 with an upturned tail 12 and spring clips 13, 14 to engage the bottom and neck of the bottle. A stopper 7 comprising a spring-pressed lever 16 with a pad 18 at one end is provided at the end of the bar 11 opposite to the tail 12. When the shaft 4 is turned by means of its handle 5, a transverse pin 19 at the end of the lever 16 engages the edges of a slot 21 in the supporting plate 2 and the lever turns on its pivot until it abuts against the lip 20, thereby removing the pad 18 from the mouth of the bottle. The sterilizing-device comprises a steam pipe 22 with nozzles 23 and an operating-lever 24. An extension 22<1> of the pipe 22 has a sleeve 22<11> pivoted on the supply pipe 25. Valve or other means are provided so that, when the pipe 22 is moved to bring the nozzles into the bottle necks, steam passes from the pipe 25 to the pipe 22. After sterilizing, the bottles are moved into the position shown in Fig 1 and transferred along a guide 27 to the support 26 of the filling-device.
