Abstract

Bottling.-A machine for filling bottles with still liquids comprises a tank 1 rotatably mounted on a central column 2 and fitted with syphons 9 which are raised and lowered bv bottles carried in platforms 19 which are operated by the cam 24 and rollers 23. Each syphon has a rubber nozzle 10 or other suitable shut-off valve at its inner end which is normally closed by contact with the tank. A yoke 11 and two guide rods 12 which slide vertically in brackets 13 are provided for each syphon. The outlet end of each syphon has a throat 14 which receives the mouth of the bottle. A clearance 15 between the throat and nozzle facilitates the escape of air. The throat is suspended by a rod 16 which is freely slidable in a bracket 17 and is lifted by a rising bottle until it strikes the collar 29 when the syphon is also lifted and liquid passes into the bottle. The height of the tank 1 is adjusted for bottles of various heights by relatively rotating the sleeves 3 and 4 and fixing by the set-screw 5.
