Sulphuretted dyes, dyeing cotton reddish-brown shades from a sulphide bath, are obtained by heating 2 : 4 : 8 - trinitro-1,-naphthol or 2 : 4 : 5-trinitro-1-naphthol, or a mixture thereof, with alkali polysulphides.
