Abstract

169,626. Blockx, R. Sept. 28, 1920. Winding pulley-blocks; driving-gear. - Comprises a construction of winding pulley-block of the type in which the driving-mechanism, winding-drum, and brake or checking device all rotate about a stationary main shaft. In the present construction, a two-part casing completely encloses the driving-gear, drum, and brake, and is adapted to receive and fix the supporting-hook of the block; one part of the casing also carrying a toothed flange gearing with a pinion on an arm carried by the drum. The hand chain-wheel 6 rotates the pinion 2 through self-sustaining gear of the type described in Specification 169,625. The pinion 2 drives one set of teeth on a stepped planet wheel carried by an arm 5 on the driven chain-wheel 7. The other set of teeth on the planet wheel gears with a ring of teeth on the casing. The centrally-divided casing completely encloses the whole mechanism and is held together by bolts at the ends of the shaft 1. Additional bolts are used to brace the casing adjacent to the recess 20 carrying the hook 22.
