Abstract
169,459. Spengler et H. Chenu, E. Sept. 23, 1920, [Convention date]. Switches, quick-action.-Snap switches comprise an operating arm 1 with handle 12 pivoted at 2, a contact member 6 being pivoted at a point 7 in the base 16 vertically below the pivot 2. A tension spring or springs 4 connect the lower end 3 of the lever 1 to points 5 on the contact member 6, and in the operation of the switch the end 3 of the lever 1, after being brought across the line of controls 2. 7 reaches a point of maximum strain of the spring 4, beyond which the spring 4 snaps over, the contact member 6 opening or closing the circuit between fixed and movable contacts 10, 8 respectively. Current is led to the movable contact through side plates 13 carrying the pivot 7, and, in a modified form of the switch. Fig. 4, contacts 9 may also be placed at the end 6<1> of the contact member 6, being adapted to control further circuits by co-operation with suitably disposed fixed contacts 11.
