Abstract
169,458. Gray, J., (Deutsche Luftfilter- Bauges). Sept. 23, 1921. Separators.-Apparatus for separating suspended particles from gas or vapours, for example, water and oil from steam, is built up of elements comprising frames 2, Figs. 7 and 8, packed with corrugated baffle plates 3 arranged in staggered relation to one another, one side wall of each corrugation being perforated so that the fluid under treatment flowing through the perforations strikes the other side wall of the corrugation and deposits the suspended matter in the trough of the corrugation. Suitable forms of plate are shown in cross-section in Figs. 3, 5 and 6. Fig. 7 shows one manner in which successive plates may be arranged. the plates being spaced apart by rings 18. The rings 18 and rings 17, which hold the plates in place, are fixed by means of rods 14, the ends of which enter holes in opposite side-walls of the frame. The plates may be coated with zinc.
